Database Architect
The Database Architect will be instrumental in moving our platform to the next level. You’ll be working as part of a skilled, collaborative team to jointly design and implement the company’s flagship platform. This is an IDEAL job if you are a database design expert with 7+ years of experience who wants to be part of a small team, feels total ownership of your work, and enjoys a challenge. You will play a crucial role in the Resonate ‘Attitudinal Targeting’ platform and everything you do will matter.
You are a skilled, experienced database architect with both a deep rooting in the fundamentals and curiosity about new techniques. You are a creative, focused, knowledgeable, and disciplined in your approach. You enjoy the challenge of marshalling, normalizing and optimizing a large and varied data set. You enjoy both guiding and collaborating with the programmers on how to best interact with the database, while maintaining the clarity and integrity of the data.
Resonate Networks is a dynamic online advertising network start-up. The position will play a crucial role in the Resonate ‘Attitudinal Targeting’ platform. This platform is the proprietary model by which Resonate performs it's online ad targeting for public affairs, political, and corporate customers. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of the database structure and data objects
- Optimize performance of the database
- Guide the the team in database development best practices
- Monitor the data landscape to identify areas of improvement
- Manage the delivery of database development as part of an agile/scrum team
- Plan and implement methods to scale our product well beyond current capacity including the monitoring of usage patterns to identify issue and tune performance
- Develop and maintain data models based on Resonate’s multiple data sources and platform requirements
- Develop, implement, and maintain data structures, procedures
- Design and develop ETL scripts that enable the automated processing of Resonate’s multiple data sources
Qualifications & Experience Requirements
- 7+ years database design and architecture, data modeling, security, performance tuning experience with 2+ years in the role of architect
- Experience with multiple RDBMS products: MS SQL Server, MySql, Oracle, or Postgres. 5+ years with MS SQL Server, 2+ years working with MySQL or Postgres.
- Expert with SQL, T-SQL, PL-SQL, Stored Procedures, Triggers
- Solid ETL scripting experience with 2+ years experience using one of the following tools: Informatica, Pentaho, Data Stage, Ab Initio, Talend
- Strong track record of scaling existing databases and software 5-10x
- Excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills.
- Experience in advertising network, digital media agency, or other advertising related experience a plus.
- True start-up mentality and experience with short (Agile, Scrum, Iterative) software lifecycles.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member, across project teams, and independently.
- Previous experience working with in a Java/J2EE environment preferred.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Statistics or Math field. Strong mathematical and statistical background is a must.
- Master’s Degree preferred
